A Summer Texas Wedding in the Hill Country
Summer Morning Rain
The rain had started in the morning and left a coolness in the air for Sophia and John’s summer Texas wedding last July. The Arlo was the perfect place for this cozy affair. Tucked away between Austin and Dripping Springs, this venue is a modern, elegant oasis outside the noise of the city. The rain gave way to a magical atmosphere. The florals by Remi and Gold and green grass around the property popped against the grey sky, creating a lush oasis for these two to tie the knot. Weather is always a gamble when it comes to a summer Texas wedding, but as a wedding photographer, it’s my job to be prepared for any and all environments. Luckily, The Arlo has so many covered areas for photos, so it allowed us to create photos in a variety of spots. We weren’t just confined to one room which was so nice!
A Blank Canvas
What I love about venues like The Arlo is how they act like a blank canvas, bursting with potential for creativity. It really lets photographers explore artistic angles and unique shots without limit. Sophia and John were so open to playing with their wedding imagery, which gave me a sense of freedom I absolutely adore. When my couples feel confident and have complete faith in me to document their day is when I feel like I create my best work. Since a lot of this summer Texas wedding day was indoors, I got to experiment with flash photography which is always a bit out of my comfort zone, but the flash shots from this day ended up being some of my favorites! The champagne tower shots are especially so fun! Madison & Ryan’s wedding in the Catskills was another wedding day where I had so much creative freedom. It’s the best feeling as a photographer to feel trusted by your client!
An Exit to Remember
Like true romantics, Sophia and John embraced the rain and ran down the sparkling stairs of The Arlo, hand in hand before driving off into the night in the most adorable vintage car. They looked so in love, and you could just feel the joy radiating off of them. This day was such a great reminder to couples that rain only dampens your wedding day if you let it, and to photographers, we can still create beautiful imagery indoors. What an incredible day to witness, filled with light and laughter, even against the backdrop of a Texas summer storm.
